All You Need to About the Costs of Botox
One of the first questions asked when talking about Botox is: “how much will it cost me?” followed by a thought: “can I afford it?”. It is thought, in fact, that Botox is a treatment only reserved for the richest, well: this couldn’t be more wrong!
Yes, you heard (or, well, read) right, you can have your treatment even if you are on a budget. There are several factors that might influence the price, from your country and the doctor you choose to the areas of your face you want to treat.
Botox and Units
Let’s start by saying that Botox is FDA-approved to treat three specific areas of the face: glabella wrinkles, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet. It is also used, less, though, to treat the chin and wrinkles at the corner of the mouth.
Now to the units: this product is sold in a bottle that contains a total of 100 units, these units are then dilute to make the right amount of treatment. That said, you’ll easily understand how hard it is to answer the question “how much will my treatment cost?” for the answer depends on the amount of Botox used and, then, on the number of units used, and this – as a consequence - depends on the area, or areas, you want to treat.
Now that we made this point, let’s check, approximately, how many units of treatment you’ll need for each area:
Glabella: 20 units.
Forehead: 8 to 20 units.
Crow’s Feet: 14 to 26 units.
Always keep in mind that these numbers may vary from person to person – and, most of all, from their age: the older, the more units she/he will need -. Also, some doctors will make you pay your treatment per area, while others per unit: if, for example, your forehead wrinkles only need a few units to be treat, you’re going to pay less if the doctor charges per unit, and more if he/she charges per area.
How to Deal with Your First Treatment
I know that the thought of having Botox might be scary, especially if you start thinking about all the bad things that might happen during and after the treatment, well, let me say, that it’s really not that scary at all: all you need is a good professional.
First of all: find someone who is willing to give you his/her time, someone willing to recommend the best treatment for you and your skin. Avoid the “I’m going to choose that doctor because his treatments are low-cost” kind of thought, and choose, instead, a doctor that you know and can guarantee you a safe and good result.
Avoid suggesting to your doctor what to do (I know someone who asked to have “5 units here and 10 units there”, well, that’s like going to the doctor and telling him what medicines he should prescribe you: pointless and disrespectful).
If you’re on a certain budget, talk to your doctor about it and let him/her suggest you the best way to “spend” your budget: he might suggest you, for example, to concentrate the treatment on a certain area over another one, to have better results. Sometimes it’s better to wait for an optimal result than having a “half-done job”!
That said, I want to point out one last time the importance of relying on a good professional: it’s the only way you can hope to have the best results!
